Maintenance Technician – Breton Construction, Inc
What this job involves: As a Maintenance Technician at Breton Construction, Inc, you will oversee facilities contractors working on site while maintaining comprehensive tracking systems for facility operations and ensuring the highest standards of safety and maintenance. This role requires you to check malfunctioning equipment, ascertain corrective actions required to restore satisfactory operating conditions, and perform a wide variety of maintenance tasks including minor plumbing, electrical troubleshooting, HVAC maintenance, and facility repairs. You’ll identify discrepancies during inspections, create work orders, and track completion while maintaining clean and safe workplace conditions that reflect Breton Construction, Inc‘ commitment to operational excellence and comprehensive facility management.

What your day-to-day will look like:
Contractor Oversight and Work Management:
• Oversee facilities contractors working on site while ensuring compliance with safety standards and quality requirements
• Keep comprehensive list of open work items in Excel while tracking progress and status updates
• Send out weekly updates on open issues to stakeholders for transparent communication and accountability
• Coordinate contractor activities to minimize disruption to facility operations and ensure timely completion
Safety and Equipment Management:
• Check malfunctioning equipment and ascertain corrective action required to restore satisfactory operating condition
• Comply with departmental policy for safe work practices when performing all maintenance tasks
• Maintain clean and safe workplace while implementing safety protocols for all maintenance activities
• Conduct daily inspections of facility equipment to identify potential issues and prevent equipment failures
• Ensure all maintenance work follows established safety procedures and regulatory compliance standards
Inspection and Work Order Management:
• Identify discrepancies of equipment and facility during comprehensive inspections
• Create work orders for identified issues while tracking through to completion using systematic approach
• Document all maintenance activities and inspection findings for comprehensive facility records
• Prioritize maintenance tasks based on safety concerns, operational impact, and client requirements
Facility Maintenance and Repairs:
• Maintain doors including locks, closures, hinges, and related hardware for optimal security and functionality
• Perform office furniture assembly and installation while ensuring proper placement and safety
• Operate scissor lift safely to hang items and perform elevated maintenance tasks
• Clear large debris and trash from property while maintaining clean and professional facility appearance
• Handle minor plumbing issues including leaks, clogs, and fixture repairs for continuous facility operation
Technical Maintenance Tasks:
• Perform minor troubleshooting for electrical and mechanical systems to resolve operational issues
• Execute painting, drywall repair, and caulking projects to maintain facility aesthetics and integrity
• Conduct minor HVAC troubleshooting while reporting major issues to appropriate technical specialists
• Perform minor facility repairs and maintenance for ongoing upkeep and operational efficiency
• Address various maintenance requests promptly to ensure client satisfaction and facility functionality
Inventory and Supply Management:
• Ensure availability of adequate operating inventory of tools and supplies for continuous maintenance operations
• Prepare and submit purchase order requests while developing sources for stock materials
• Perform periodic checks for supplies while maintaining optimal inventory levels for operational needs
• Manage tool maintenance and replacement to ensure proper equipment for all maintenance tasks
• Coordinate with vendors and suppliers for timely delivery of materials and equipment
Required Qualifications:
Technical Skills and Experience: • Experience with basic electrical and mechanical troubleshooting for facility equipment
• Knowledge of minor plumbing repairs and maintenance procedures
• Understanding of HVAC systems for basic troubleshooting and maintenance
• Experience with painting, drywall repair, and general construction maintenance
• Ability to operate scissor lifts and elevated work platforms safely
Safety and Compliance: • Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures for facility maintenance work
• Understanding of departmental policies for safe work practices
• Ability to maintain clean and safe workplace conditions consistently
• Experience with facility inspection procedures and safety compliance requirements
Administrative and Communication Skills: • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel for tracking work items and generating reports
• Strong organizational skills for managing multiple work orders and contractor oversight
• Communication skills for coordinating with contractors, vendors, and facility stakeholders
• Ability to document maintenance activities and inspection findings accurately
Physical Requirements: • Ability to lift, bend, and move in performance of various maintenance tasks
• Capability to work at heights using scissor lifts and elevated platforms safely
• Physical stamina for daily facility inspections and maintenance activities
• Manual dexterity for handling tools, equipment, and maintenance materials
Professional Skills: • Self-motivated with ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively
• Problem-solving skills for identifying and resolving facility maintenance issues

Preferred Qualifications:
